Job Title: Ironworker/Welder

Job Status: Full-Time/Non-Exempt

Versed in Conventional Structural Steel

Summary

The Ironworker erects structural and miscellaneous steel. Performs welding and limited millwright functions.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Unloads, shakes out, and organizes steel materials
  • Erects steel columns, beams and bar joist
  • Installs materials efficiently while meeting acceptable job specific tolerances
  • Welds and/or bolts connections per details
  • Installs roof and floor edge angle and bent plate
  • Installs miscellaneous structural steel including kicker brace, support channel, hangers, posts, etc.
  • Lays out and installs roof/floor frames
  • Welds moment connections
  • Bolts aligned structural-steel members in position for permanent bolting or welding into place
  • Installs bridging in bar joist
  • Installs metal roof/floor deck
  • Sets and grouts precast concrete hollow core plank
  • Erects steel stairs stringer, metal pans, guardrail, and handrail
  • Erects amusement ride catwalks and handrails
  • Installs ladders, railings, grating, and other miscellaneous steel
  • Installs cable rail fall protection
  • Provides proper signaling to equipment operators
  • Cuts and welds steel using torches and welding equipment
  • Adheres to the company’s safety policies to create a safe work environment
  • Other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications/Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Rigging experience required
  • Mechanical ability to perform millwright type functions required
  • Sufficient education or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training that provides the desired knowledge, skills and characteristics to perform duties of the role
  • 10 Hour OSHA Certification or willingness to obtain within ninety (90) days of employment
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Ability to work at heights without fear
  • Ability to perform on a regular basis in outside weather conditions consisting of wet, hot, humid, and/or freezing temperatures, also contending with dirt and dust
  • Must be willing and able to travel to jobsites which may require overnight stays away from home
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
  • Must have a good work ethic, and the ability to understand and carry out written or verbal instructions
  • Ability to read specifications and blueprints to determine the locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required
  • Ability to use equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner
  • Must be a self-starter
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills
